Petar an enthusiastic and engaging psychologist with more than 20 years of experience working with children and adolescents. His started his career working as a tennis coach teaching students of all ages from childhood to adulthood.
Petar’s special interest is working with and successfully engaging adolescents who are apprehensive and reluctant to access support. He has experience supporting young people overcome challenges of school avoidance, truanting, difficulties maintaining positive relationships, defiance, hostility towards parents and authority figures and emotional reactivity.
Petar supports children and adolescents experiencing Depression, Anxiety, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Conduct Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Selective Mutism Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and suicidal ideation. He uses a holistic treatment approaches incorporating evidence based treatment techniques tailored to each individual client. Treatment approaches include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Therapy (ACT), Family Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Exposure Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Play Therapy.
Petar believes in a collaborative treatment approach that includes parents, schools, and other allied health professionals to provide each client with the best possible outcome. He liaises with paediatricians, psychiatrists, psychologists, school counsellors, occupational therapists, speech pathologists and support workers to ensure a cohesive approach for his clients.
Petar is also a former tennis professional and has represented New South Wales and Australia in national and international competition. He is a proud supporter of the Parramatta Eels NRL club and his hobbies include tennis, horseback riding, rock climbing, skydiving and fishing. He loves music, plays the saxophone and has particular passion for Karaoke.
