Therapy Groups

The Child Development Clinic offer a range of evidence-based group therapy programs for children and adolescents which are run throughout school terms. Groups are a great opportunity for your child to meet same-aged peers with similar challenges, and provide a unique opportunity for children to practice skills learnt in a safe and fun environment. Register below.

2025 Programs

Parenting Program: (Term 1)
Tuning into Kids

REGISTER YOUR INTEREST FOR 2025 IN FORM BELOW!
​Time: 6 weekly lunchtime sessions 12:30 - 1:30pm on Wednesdays starting week 2 of term 1, 12th of February to 19th March. 
Location: Hybrid access, either online or in perso
n at 3/66 Clarence Street, Sydney, 2000
Cost: $650 paid upfront
Numbers: 6 parents/carers
Program overview: Tuning into Kids is an evidence-based program that provides training to parents and carers on how to use an emotion coaching way of interacting with children. It can help parents, carers and teachers to develop an emotional connection with the child and in turn helps the child learn about emotions to foster a better ability in understanding and regulating emotions. Social Skills/Friendship Building: (Term 2)
Stop Think Do (7-12 year olds)
REGISTER YOUR INTEREST FOR 2025 IN FORM BELOW!​
Time: 7 weekly sessions 4:30pm - 5:30pm on Mondays starting 5th May - 23rd of June.
Location: 3/66 Clarence Street, Sydney, 2000
Cost: $850 paid upfront, includes afternoon tea each week.
​Numbers: 6 children in group (Numbers strictly limited!)

Program overview: The STOP.THINK.DO. program was developed by a clinical psychologist and is an Australian social skills program for children who have difficulties making and keeping friends. STOP.THINK.DO. develops emotional and social intelligence in children as they learn to understand and control their feelings at STOP, THINK about their options and likely consequences, and behave appropriately at DO. The program focusses on how to use these skills in social situations. The program will be facilitated by two to three provisional and/or registered psychologists. Emotional Regulation: (Term 3)
Zones of Regulation (7-10 year olds)

Time: 8 weekly sessions 4:30 - 5:30pm on Wednesdays week 2 of term 3, 30th July to 17th September, 2025
Location: 3/66 Clarence Street, Sydney, 2000
Cost: $850 paid upfront, includes afternoon tea each week 
Numbers: 6 children
Program overview: Zones of Regulation is a social emotional learning curriculum and regulation program that helps teach children to identify their feelings, the intensity of their feelings, and to understand how their behaviour influences those around them and gives them the tools they can use to manage their feelings.

Anxiety Support: (Term 4)
Take Action (7 to 12 year olds)

Time: 8 weekly sessions 4:30-5:30pm on Mondays, starting week 2 of Term 4, 20th October to 8th December.
Location: 3/66 Clarence Street, Sydney, 2000
Cost: $850 paid upfront, includes afternoon tea each week
Numbers: 6 children in group (Numbers strictly limited!)

Program overview: Our Take Action anxiety management group is specially tailored for children facing anxiety or excessive worries. This evidence-based group program is designed to empower children to proactively address anxiety in a child-friendly and supportive environment. We focus on equipping participants with essential skills to foster confidence, resilience, and happiness. The program will be facilitated by two experienced provisional psychologists under the supervision of a clinical psychologist. Learn more about the program at: http://www.takeactionprogram.com.au/ ​

    Register your interest for Group Therapy:

    If you believe that your child could benefit from group therapy and can commit to attending weekly face-to-face sessions at our Sydney CBD Clinic, we invite you to express your interest below. Please note that placements are limited. If you express interest in your child attending the group therapy session, our team will contact you to ensure suitability for your child to attend the program. This registration is open all year round, however we are currently filling places for Term 2 and 3, 2025. We encourage registering even if your child does not fall within the current age ranges for our group, as we do occasionally run groups for different age ranges other than those mentioned above.
